WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 (KUNA) -- Two days after Hurricane Ike roared through Houston, Texas, forcing thousands to evacuate and head for emergency shelters, the death toll from the storm rose to 30 in eight states, officials reported on Monday.
Houston, home to the fourth-largest U.S. metropolitan area, remained littered with glass from skyscrapers. The city was placed under a weeklong curfew, and millions of its residents still had no power on Monday.
