Tata bids adieu to Singur

Kolkata, Oct 3, 2008: Tata finally bids adieu to Singur as Ratan Tata finally announced after meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee that he will stick to his plans of exiting Nano car plant there.

There was some anticipation in the air that Tatas may decide to stay put in Singur when the news of impending meeting of Ratan Tata and West Bengal chief minister was made.

Ratan Tata in the meantime accused Trinamool Congress chief Mamta Banerjee for being responsible for Tata’s exit from Singur plant.

Tatas have already invested more than 1500 crore rupees on acquiring land and constructing the plant at Singur on more than 900 acres of land. They were planning to roll out their first Nano car known more as lakhtakia car (Rs one lakh car) from this very same plant.
