US Embassy in Sanaa damaged in blast: Update 2




SANAA, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- The attack on the US Embassy here earlier Wednesday morning resulted in grave damage to the compound's gate and the front of the building, said an embassy spokesperson.
Speaking to reporters, the spokesperson said the blast was a strong one, confirming that it was followed by an exchange of fire between the perpetrators of the attack and members of the embassy's security force.

The perpetrators used RPGs, leading to deaths among the embassy guards and a number of Yemeni soldiers, as well as civilians who were at the compound for paperwork. Several people were injured.

The spokesperson added that the exact number of people killed and wounded had not yet been determined, as rescue operations were ongoing at the site of the blast.
