Indian Hockey team gets MK Kaushik as new coach

Mumbai, Sept 17, 2008: The badly bruised and battered Indian Hockey team has a new coach in MK Kaushik. Though speculations were doing the round for months that Kaushik will be brought as the new coach of Indian Hockey team, it was only today that it was confirmed.

Maharaj Kishan Kaushik is one of the most prominent faces of hockey in the country. Though he has rarely been given the place and respect that is due for such a distinguished personality, his contribution for the Indian hockey has been enormous.

He coached Indian team in late nineties.

Kaushik was part of the Indian Hockey team that won Olympic gold medal in 1980. The Olympics that year were held in Moscow and many people still remember vividly as to how rousing welcome was accorded to the gold winning team when it returned to the country.
